The Karnali Yaks won a huge victory over the Lumbini Lions in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) today. The Yaks won the match by nine wickets, mostly because one of their players, Mark Watt, hit a brilliant century.
Lions Set a Target of 157 Runs
First, the Lumbini Lions batted after the Yaks won the coin toss and chose to bowl first.
- The Lions scored a total of 156 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.
- Lions Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel played a slow and steady inning, scoring the most runs for his team with 49 runs.
- Some quick runs at the end by Ruben Trumpelmann (29 not out) helped the Lions reach a respectable score.
- For the Karnali Yaks, bowler Nandan Yadav took two important wickets.
Mark Watt’s Fast Century Wins the Game
Chasing a target of 157 runs, the Karnali Yaks showed amazing power and speed.
- Even though the Yaks lost one early wicket, Mark Watt came out and started hitting the ball everywhere.
- Watt hit a wonderful 114 runs, which was a century. He didn’t take many balls to reach this huge score.
- The Yaks easily chased down the target, finishing with 161 runs for just 1 wicket in only 12.2 overs. This means they won with a lot of overs left.
This big win gives the Karnali Yaks their first victory of the season. Mark Watt was named the Player of the Match for his great batting.
