India has committed around 650 vehicles to support Nepal’s House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, 2026, with the first batch already handed over in Kathmandu.

India handing over vehicles to Nepal for House of Representatives elections

The Government of India has extended logistical support to Nepal for its upcoming House of Representatives elections by committing hundreds of vehicles to assist election preparations and security operations.

First Batch Handed Over in Kathmandu

The first tranche of election support was formally handed over on January 20, 2026, at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Kathmandu. The delivery included more than 60 double-cab pickup vehicles along with other election-related supplies.

Support for Election Operations

The vehicles will be used by the Election Commission, security agencies, and related government bodies to support transportation, security deployment, and logistical coordination during the election process.

Total Commitment of 650 Vehicles

India has committed to providing around 650 vehicles in total for the elections scheduled on March 5, 2026 (Falgun 21, 2082 BS). The remaining vehicles are expected to be delivered in multiple batches over the coming weeks.

Part of Long-Standing Electoral Cooperation

India has supported Nepal’s electoral processes since 2008, having provided thousands of vehicles and logistical assistance to various government agencies over the years. Nepali officials have acknowledged the support as part of ongoing cooperation between the two countries.
