NRNA 12th Global Conference IGA organizing committee meeting MoFA Kathmandu March 2026

The 12th Global Conference and International General Assembly of the Non-Resident Nepali Association kicks off in Kathmandu on March 14, running through March 16 at the Soaltee Kathmandu hotel. For Nepalis living abroad, this is the biggest gathering of the year.

On March 10, Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma chaired a high-level organizing committee meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to review preparations. He underlined how critical NRN contributions are to Nepal’s progress and extended his best wishes for a successful event.

The meeting brought together senior government figures, including Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, National Planning Commission member Suniti Shrestha Hada, and secretaries from the Ministries of Industry and Law. NRNA Presidents Badri KC and Mahesh Kumar Shrestha also attended alongside other committee members.

Discussions covered final logistics, key highlights of the conference program, and procedural matters for the IGA sessions.

The three-day event goes beyond ceremony. Sessions will cover diaspora investment in Nepal, technology transfer, citizenship rights for NRNs, and joint economic initiatives. Elections for NRNA leadership are also on the agenda.

Nepal’s diaspora community spans dozens of countries. This conference is their formal platform to connect with the government, propose policy changes, and commit resources back home. MoFA confirmed preparations are on track and the event is ready to go.
