The Biratnagar Kings defeated the Kathmandu Gorkhas in a strong performance today in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). The Kings won by 5 wickets with plenty of balls to spare.
Gorkhas Set a Small Target
The Kathmandu Gorkhas batted first after the Biratnagar Kings won the toss and chose to bowl.
- The Gorkhas struggled to score quickly and ended their innings with 136 runs for the loss of all their wickets.
- Shahab Alam was the top scorer for the Gorkhas, hitting a valuable 50 runs.
- For the Kings, fast bowler Marchant de Lange took two wickets to keep the Gorkhas’ score low.
Kings’ Fast Start Seals the Win
The Biratnagar Kings started their chase quickly and reached the target easily.
- Openers George Munsey and Martin Guptill got the team off to a flying start, smashing quick runs in the first few overs. Munsey was especially aggressive, hitting 36 runs off just 16 balls.
- The middle-order batters kept the run rate high and managed the chase without much trouble.
- The Kings reached the target of 137 runs in 17.2 overs, winning the match comfortably by 5 wickets.
This win is the second in a row for the Biratnagar Kings, helping them climb up the league table.
